Merry Christmas - Busy weekend/week!

I should have created this post Sunday night, but I am still working in the city this week and we have such a jammed packed schedule that I haven't been able to catch my breath.

Starting last Friday, we drove through snow and icy conditions to take Matthew to Chicago Children's Memorial Hospital to get tubes put in his ears. Actually, the drive wasn't as bad as we were dreading and Matthew's procedure went very well. He was up and running the hospital halls right after coming out of anesthesia. We even went to lunch at a diner close to the hospital after being discharged.

Checking into the hospital. All smiles and cuteness.

Being admitted to a bed.

Checking to see if he is healthy enough for the procedure.

Waiting for our surgery time. I had to tie up the hospital gown so that he wouldn't trip on it.

Baby, it's cold outside!

Matthew was totally spoilt at Children's.
He ran around like he owned the place. The staff are amazing there and really do put the kids first.

Off to surgery.
After waiting around for hours, he was whisked away so quickly, I barely had a chance to give him a good kiss and hug.

Post-surgery. Doesn't he look good!
He probably feels much better without all that fluid in his ears.
The doctor said that he had to drain quite a lot of stuff!

Checking out the diner.
It is unusual that he gets undivided attention from us. It was nice to have him all to ourselves for a day.

We celebrated with a Delish chocolate malt.

Passed out on the way home.

We didn't get home until after 4 pm and got busy straight away cleaning and preparing for the annual Mishler Holiday Party which we were hosting the next day at our house. The Mishlers are Joe's mom's side of the family. It is always fun hosting the party and easy too, since everyone contributes by bringing an appetizer to share. We made two dishes; cheese fondue and cocktail meatballs. I also picked up some cupcakes for the kids.

Sunday, we were pretty wiped out but got a second wind and decided to brave the -30 F temps to check out Winter WonderFest at Navy Pier. Dylan had a great time but wasn't able to go on all the rides due to the minimum height requirements. We'll try going back in a few years when both boys are a little older.

Dylan and cute girl on the kiddie ferris wheel.

The view from way up high on the big ferris wheel.

Dylan had a try at decorating a cookie.

Sweet endings to a great time.

Believe it or not, this is only a fraction of what we have been up to. Lots more to write about, but I've been uploading photos for over 2 hours now and still have to go and finish laundry and get Dylan ready for bed. We are all a little under the weather, and I am ready for bed.

Merry Christmas! Hope you have a wonderful day and that Santa is very good to you!

Lisa, don't forget we also had a party for Matthew's 1st birthday. There were also other bday parties for Joe's nephews in Nov/Dec. Not to mention that there are no less than 6 Greco Christmas parties in December.
Exhausting!
I'll call you if we are in the Merrillville area! I'm off until Jan 5th.

The extended Greco family gets together a lot during the hectic holiday season. Here's a breakdown:

NOVEMBER
• 2 birthday parties (Griffin's and Matthew's)
• 1 Thanksgiving get-together (sometimes 2)

DECEMBER
• 4 birthday parties (Ryan, Dylan, Grandpa, Great-Grandma)
• 2 office parties
• 4 family Christmas celebrations (dad's family gets together on the 24th and 25th, one day with mom's family, another day just with mom and immediate family)

A couple of these parties we didn't attend but, yes, we get together a lot. But with a big family, we need to break it up over different days at different places to see everyone that comes in from out of town.

Hope your holidays aren't as hectic!
